OTT platform Jio Hotstar has announced a significant change in subscription plan prices. Plans in all three categories - Mobile, Super, and Premium - have become more expensive, and content rules have also been changed. The company made this announcement on Monday, and the new plans will be effective from January 28, 2026. This will affect millions of users, and ads will appear in Mobile and Super plans.
According to the new rules, Hollywood content will only be available in super and premium plans. Mobile users will have to purchase a separate add-on pack for Hollywood. The mobile plan is for only one device, which will get 720p HD resolution. Its monthly price is 79 rupees, quarterly 149 rupees, and annually 499 rupees. For the Hollywood add-on, a monthly fee of 49 rupees, quarterly 129 rupees, and annually 399 rupees will be required.
The super plan is for two devices, offering 1080p full HD content. Its monthly price is 149 rupees, quarterly 349 rupees, and annually 1099 rupees. This is an affordable option for TV, without the need for a Hollywood add-on. The premium plan is for four devices, offering 4K resolution and Dolby Vision. Its monthly price is 299 rupees, quarterly 699 rupees, and annually 2199 rupees. It offers ad-free content, with ads only appearing in live sports.
Due to these changes, the mobile plan remains affordable for budget users, but the additional cost for Hollywood has increased. The company claims to provide a premium experience by raising prices, and users are now considering the new rates.
