As cybercrime continues to rise across the country, one young girl has captured the internet’s attention by turning the tables on a fraudster attempting to dupe her. In an incident that has now gone viral on social media, a minor girl cleverly outwitted a cyber thief, earning praise not only from viewers but surprisingly, even from the fraudster himself.

The Rising Threat of Cyber Fraud

With cases of online fraud becoming increasingly common, citizens are being warned to stay vigilant. Cybercriminals often use emotional manipulation and fabricated scenarios such as, "money sent by mistake," "your account is hacked," or "a parcel in your name is stuck in customs" to lure victims into financial traps.

In this particular case, however, the scammer's usual tricks were met with unexpected resistance.

The Incident: A Call, A Lie, and A Clever Response

In a video circulating on social media, a cyber fraudster contacts a young girl, pretending to be a friend of her father. He tells her that her father has asked him to transfer money to her UPI account.

Trusting the man initially, the girl agrees. Shortly after, she receives an SMS stating ₹10,000 has been transferred to her account. However, the message was not from any bank—it was a regular SMS sent from a mobile number, raising the girl’s suspicion.

The man then claims to send ₹20,000 more. Again, the message is a personal SMS, not a bank notification. The girl, sensing something wrong, refrains from transferring any money.

Soon after, the scammer claims that ₹20,000 was sent by mistake and instructs her to keep ₹12,000 and return ₹18,000—a classic refund scam tactic.

Girl Turns the Tables

Using her presence of mind, the girl copies the same message he sent her, edits the amount to ₹18,000, and sends it back, pretending to have returned the money. She then tells him, “Here, uncle, I’ve sent ₹18,000 back to you.”

Realizing he had been outsmarted, the scammer concedes defeat, saying, “You are smarter than me, I accept it, daughter,” before disconnecting the call.

Internet Applauds the Girl’s Wit

The girl’s quick thinking and calm response have received widespread praise on social media. Netizens are applauding her cleverness, calling her a role model for digital awareness and presence of mind in the face of cybercrime.

A Lesson for All

This incident serves as an important reminder: never trust unknown callers, verify every message or transaction, and stay alert to common scam tactics. With growing cases of digital fraud, such awareness and caution can prevent serious financial loss.
