Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra and her family are grieving the loss of a close family member. Raman Rai Handa, the uncle of Priyanka and Parineeti Chopra, and father of actress Mannara Chopra, passed away on June 16 at the age of 72.
According to family sources, Handa had been unwell for some time, and his health had been deteriorating in recent months. He was a practicing lawyer at the High Court and a respected figure within both legal and entertainment circles.
The heartbreaking news was confirmed by actress Mannara Chopra, who shared an emotional tribute on her Instagram account.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of my father. He left us on June 16, 2025. He was a great support to our family,” she wrote.
Mannara also shared that Raman Rai Handa’s last rites will be held on June 18 at 1:00 PM at the Andheri West crematorium in Mumbai. He is survived by his wife Kamini Chopra Handa and daughters Mitali and Mannara.
Priyanka Chopra, currently abroad, paid tribute to her uncle on social media. Sharing a heartfelt note on Instagram, she wrote:
“You will always be in our hearts, uncle. May your soul rest in peace.”
What makes the loss even more poignant for the Chopra family is that June 16 was also the birthday of Priyanka's mother, Dr. Madhu Chopra. The somber news arriving on the same day has deeply affected the family.
Following the news of her father's passing, Mannara Chopra immediately returned to Mumbai to be with her family.
Raman Rai Handa was known not only for his legal acumen but also for his supportive nature and close ties to his accomplished nieces in Bollywood. His passing marks a significant loss for the Chopra family, who have requested privacy during this difficult time.
