Following the recent Ahmedabad plane incident, another aviation issue has come to light involving Air India, as a bird hit forced the cancellation of flight AI2470 from Pune to Delhi. The airline has confirmed that the bird strike led to the suspension of the flight, further contributing to a day of widespread disruptions in operations.
On Friday, Air India canceled a total of 8 flights, including 4 international and 4 domestic services, citing maintenance and operational reasons. The airline released an official statement explaining the cancellations and advising passengers to stay updated through official channels.
International Flights:
Dubai to Chennai – AI906
Delhi to Melbourne – AI308
Melbourne to Delhi – AI309
Dubai to Hyderabad – AI2204
Domestic Flights:
Pune to Delhi – AI874
Ahmedabad to Delhi – AI456
Hyderabad to Mumbai – AI2872
Chennai to Mumbai – AI571
In addition to the canceled flights, Air India announced on Thursday that it will reduce operations across international routes for a short period. From June 21 to July 15, 2025, the airline will scale back flight frequencies and temporarily suspend services on three international routes to manage increased maintenance requirements.
Air India has urged all travelers to check the status of their flights via the airline’s official website or customer care number before heading to the airport. In the statement, the airline said:
“We are likely to experience some disruptions due to increased aircraft inspections, airspace restrictions, and adverse weather conditions. Passengers will be duly informed of any changes.”
The recent incidents and resulting cancellations underline the challenges faced by the aviation industry in balancing safety, operations, and service reliability. Passengers are advised to remain alert and prepared for possible schedule changes in the coming weeks.
