The administration of US President Donald Trump has taken another major decision to curb illegal immigration and enhance internal security in the country. There has been a significant increase in the H1B visa fees, and now social media accounts will be strictly scrutinized. From canceling visas of pregnant women to biometric monitoring of green card holders, this new policy will have a direct impact on citizens worldwide, especially Indian citizens.

The Trump administration has implemented strict rules for H1B and other visas, and currently, 70% of H1B visa holders in the US are Indian. If any post against America is found on social media accounts, there is a possibility of visa cancellation. In addition, visas for pregnant women coming with the intention of giving birth to obtain American citizenship for their children will now be canceled. After all this, new rules have also been announced for green card holders.

Entry and exit of green card holders who are not American citizens will be recorded, using biometric systems and fingerprint technology. Special attention will be focused on green card holders from 19 countries, including India's neighbors Myanmar and Afghanistan. As there are a large number of Indian green card holders in America, this policy will have a direct impact on India.

Due to these strict rules, it will now be more complicated for green card holders to leave and re-enter the United States. As each entry and exit will be subject to strict scrutiny, the process will become time-consuming and complex. This policy will be a major obstacle for Indian IT professionals and families, yet it is a step towards increased security from the perspective of the United States. The current economic and migration sectors are focused on what the long-term effects of these changes will be.

  • Significant increase in H1B visa fees, strict scrutiny of social media accounts

  • Restrictions on visas for pregnant women, ban on birth tourism

  • Biometric and fingerprint monitoring for green card holders

  • Potential direct impact on Indian IT professionals and families
