As Operation Sindoor continues amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is set to hold an emergency security meeting today at 2 PM in Chandipur. The move comes in the wake of an attempted drone strike by Pakistan last night, which was successfully repelled by Indian forces.
With the situation along the border intensifying, authorities are taking strict measures to bolster the security of key defense and research installations. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Eastern Range, Dr. Satyajit Nayak, has called for the high-level meeting to assess the preparedness and security protocols at critical defense establishments.
Focus on Chandipur’s Missile Testing Facilities
The primary agenda of the meeting is to conduct a thorough review of the security arrangements at the Integrated Test Range (ITR) and the Proof and Experimental Establishment (PXE) in Chandipur, Odisha — both vital centers for India’s missile development and testing programs.
Balasore Superintendent of Police has instructed all relevant departments and officials to work in close coordination to ensure the success of the meeting and to streamline communication and security operations.
Multi-Layered Security at DRDO Facilities
Security at the Chandipur missile testing site has already been significantly heightened. The site is protected through a four-tiered security system: beginning with local Odisha Police, followed by the Indian Army, DRDO's internal security team, and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) forming the outermost layer.
The emergency meeting is expected to gather inputs and suggestions from all involved departments to further reinforce the security infrastructure. Given the sensitive nature of the facilities and the broader conflict scenario, the review is being seen as a critical step in ensuring national security.
