In Bangladesh, the minority Hindu community has been under constant attack for the past two weeks. A deadly attack occurred on a fourth Hindu in Mymensingh district on New Year's Eve. On the night of December 31, a mob attempted to stab and burn 40-year-old Hindu trader Khokan Chandra Das by pouring petrol. To save his life, he jumped into a nearby pond.

Khokan Chandra Das, who runs a pharmacy in the Keurbhanga area of Kaneshwar Union, was returning home to Tiloi at 9 PM after closing his shop. At that time, some thugs stopped him and started beating him severely. The attackers made several strikes with sharp weapons and attempted to set him on fire by pouring petrol. However, he survived by jumping into a pond. Locals rescued him and admitted him to a hospital in Shariatpur. Doctors have stated that his condition is critical.

This attack is the fourth in Mymensingh in two weeks. On December 30, Bajendra Biswas, who worked in a garment factory, was shot dead by the accused named Noman Mia. On December 18, 27-year-old Dipu Chandra Das was beaten to death by a mob and his body was tied to a tree and set on fire. On December 24, Amrit Mandal alias Samrat was killed by a mob on charges of extortion in the Husaindanga area of Kalimohar Union.

These consecutive attacks have created an atmosphere of fear among the Hindu community in Bangladesh. Local media and human rights organizations are demanding immediate action, while concerns are also being expressed at the international level.
