The recent revelation that previously released sketches of the terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack were incorrect has sparked sharp criticism from Shiv Sena (UBT)’s mouthpiece, Saamana. In its latest editorial, Saamana directly questioned the central government over the glaring error in such a serious national security matter.

The terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, claimed the lives of 26 innocent civilians. Two months ago, sketches of the suspected terrorists were circulated widely. However, a new revelation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) indicates that the actual perpetrators — three Pakistani terrorists — were different from those initially depicted. This startling development has raised serious concerns about the accuracy and intent behind the earlier investigation.

In its editorial, Saamana questioned, “How was an incorrect sketch prepared after such a grave incident? And how was it allowed to be circulated across the world?” The publication strongly criticized the lapse, calling it not just a failure of the government but of the entire nation.

Further, Saamana demanded accountability, stating, “There must be an investigation into who is responsible for this error. Was there deliberate misinformation by the authorities? Why was there such gross negligence in the probe of the attack?” The editorial accused the central government of mishandling the situation and undermining the credibility of national intelligence agencies.

According to Saamana, this misstep not only misdirected the investigation but also damaged India’s image on the global stage. The article has reignited debate on the efficiency and transparency of government responses in the wake of terror incidents.
