Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that due to inflation affecting the household expenses of poor families, this decision will provide them some relief. He mentioned that soon an LPG gas cylinder will be made available for 300 rupees.
The information provided by the government is that a subsidy of 250 rupees will be given under the Orunodoi Scheme and PM Ujjwala Yojana. As a result, compared to the past, cylinders will be available at a cheaper rate, with only a price of 300 rupees to be paid. Since the subsidy will be directly deposited into the beneficiaries' accounts, it will provide financial convenience when booking gas.
This decision will greatly benefit women from economically weaker families, as they are also provided with financial assistance every month. The price of LPG had been rising for many days, increasing the strain on the household expenses of ordinary people. Now, with this subsidy, it is expected that household expenses will decrease, and especially the middle class will have a significant relief.
The Assam government will soon issue directives to the relevant departments and gas distributors to comply with these new rules. This will make it easier for those in need to purchase LPG gas and help reduce the strain of inflation.
