In a much-talked-about union between cricket and politics, Indian cricketer Rinku Singh and Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj are all set to tie the knot. Their engagement ceremony will be held on June 8 at Golf City in Lucknow, followed by a grand wedding on November 18 at the Taj Hotel in Varanasi.
The news was confirmed by Priya Saroj’s father, Toofani Saroj, a sitting MLA from the Kerakat assembly constituency. He stated that the engagement will be a private family event attended by close relatives and friends, while the wedding will be a lavish affair with invitations extended to cricket stars, Bollywood celebrities, business tycoons, and political dignitaries.
According to media reports, Rinku and Priya first met through a mutual friend. What began as a casual friendship slowly blossomed into love. The couple reportedly took ample time to understand each other before deciding to marry with the blessings of both families.
Rinku Singh’s coach Masood Amini also confirmed the engagement, saying, “Rinku’s engagement ceremony will take place on June 8 in Golf City, Lucknow. I have received the invitation and my family will attend. Many other cricketers have also been invited.”
Priya Saroj, aged 26, is a lawyer by profession and a first-time Member of Parliament, having recently won the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Machhlishahr in Uttar Pradesh. She represents the Samajwadi Party, continuing the political legacy of her father, Toofani Saroj.
Rinku Singh, aged 27, is known for his explosive batting and strong finishing skills. He has represented India in 2 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 33 T20 Internationals. A regular player for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Rinku has become a household name with his consistent performances.
