As the world gradually moves past the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic, fresh concerns are emerging in Mumbai with the detection of 53 suspected new cases of the virus. In response, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued an alert and directed hospitals to remain prepared for any emergency situation. Health workers have been instructed to take all necessary precautions.

Amid rising apprehension, Health Minister Prakash Abitkar addressed the public, urging calm and vigilance. "We are seeing reports on news channels about a rise in COVID-19 cases. Naturally, this may cause concern and fear among citizens. However, I want to reassure everyone—there is no need to panic as we did in the earlier stages of the pandemic. Citizens’ immunity has improved significantly, and we are in a much better position now," he stated.

Drawing a parallel with past public health challenges, the minister added, "Swine flu emerged around fifteen years ago, and we still see occasional cases even today. The Maharashtra Health Department continues to take all necessary precautions. The state government is fully equipped and capable of handling any disease-related situation. Our health system remains on alert at all times."

Authorities have advised citizens to remain cautious, follow hygiene protocols, and consult health professionals if symptoms arise. The situation is being closely monitored, and further updates are expected from the health department in the coming days.
