A statement made by Congress leader Navjot Kaur Sidhu has caused a stir in Punjab politics. She stated that she will not remain active unless Congress declares her as the face for the Chief Minister position, and hinted that it takes 500 crore rupees to become Chief Minister. The ruling AAP and BJP have strongly criticized this statement.

AAP's Response

AAP General Secretary Baltej Pannu said that Navjot Kaur has made two significant claims,

1. Congress should make her the face for the Chief Minister position.

2. Sidhu does not have 500 crore rupees.

Pannu raised the question, “If it takes 500 crore rupees, who has this money? And where does it go? People in Punjab should be informed about this.”

BJP's Criticism

BJP Punjab President Sunil Jakhar said, “In Congress, a large sum is needed to become Chief Minister. Earlier, there was talk of 350 crores, now it seems to have reached 500 crores.” BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh said, “Navjot Kaur herself said that she does not have 500 crores. This clearly shows that politics in Congress runs on the strength of money.”

Later, Navjot Kaur Sidhu clarified that her statement was misinterpreted. This entire issue has raised new questions about the leadership of Congress in Punjab.

  • Navjot Kaur Sidhu mentioned that '500 crores are needed' to become the Chief Minister.
