Senior Congress leader and former party president Sonia Gandhi was admitted to the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC) in Shimla after her health suddenly deteriorated during a private visit. She is currently undergoing medical tests and routine monitoring. Hospital officials have confirmed that her condition is stable, and there is no cause for concern.
Sonia Gandhi had arrived in Shimla last Monday to spend a few days on vacation at her daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s private residence in Chharabra. However, her health took a turn after she reportedly experienced a sudden spike in blood pressure. She was promptly shifted to IGMC for medical attention.
Sources at the hospital stated that ECG and MRI scans have been conducted, and a team of senior doctors has been assigned to monitor her condition. Officials have described her ailment as minor, but she remains under close observation.

Following the news of her hospitalization, Himachal Pradesh Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena and Health Minister visited the hospital to assess the situation. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu cancelled his scheduled two-day visit to Una and rushed to Shimla to oversee the developments.
To ensure the safety and privacy of the Congress leader, tight security has been deployed around the hospital premises. Naresh Chauhan, Principal Media Advisor to the Chief Minister, confirmed Sonia Gandhi’s stable condition, adding that further tests are being conducted as a precaution. As of now, no official statement has been issued by the Gandhi family. However, party members and well-wishers across the country have expressed hope for her swift recovery.
