n a significant move ahead of the Ashadhi Wari 2025, the Maharashtra state government has announced a subsidy of ₹20,000 for each Warkari Dindi (pilgrim group) departing for Pandharpur. This decision is expected to benefit thousands of Dindis participating in the revered annual pilgrimage from various parts of the state.
The grant, aimed at supporting the spiritual and logistical preparations of the Warkaris, will be disbursed by the Department of Social Justice, following the directive of Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
Previously, the government had distributed a total grant of ₹3 crore among 15,000 Dindis, and a similar initiative will be undertaken this year as well, ensuring broader coverage and financial aid.
Officials from the Social Justice Department confirmed that all eligible Dindis will receive the funds before their departure for Pandharpur, allowing them to make necessary arrangements for the pilgrimage, which holds immense cultural, spiritual, and social significance in Maharashtra.
This announcement underscores the state’s continued commitment to preserving and promoting the Warkari tradition, a cornerstone of Maharashtra's devotional heritage.
