In a major anti-narcotics operation at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials have arrested a foreign national for smuggling cocaine valued at approximately ₹7.75 crore.
The individual, a passenger who had arrived in India from Liberia, was found to be carrying 674 grams of cocaine. His suspicious behavior alerted DRI officials, who detained and questioned him. Upon further medical examination, several yellow capsules were discovered concealed inside his stomach.
Under the supervision of a trained medical professional, the capsules were safely extracted. Subsequent testing confirmed that the contents were cocaine. The narcotics were immediately seized by the DRI.
A case has been registered against the accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Authorities have launched a deeper investigation to uncover the network involved in this smuggling attempt.
This case highlights the extreme lengths to which international drug traffickers go to bypass security checks, and underscores the vigilance of Indian enforcement agencies in tackling narcotics smuggling at major entry points.
