A disturbing video emerging from Kerala has sparked outrage across social media, showing an employee being subjected to inhumane treatment at a private marketing company. The footage, which has since gone viral, depicts a man with a rope tied around his neck, crawling on the floor and being forced to lick coins off the ground — a humiliating punishment allegedly imposed for not meeting sales targets.
According to reports, the management of the company degraded multiple employees by stripping them half-naked before tying leashes around their necks and compelling them to crawl on their knees, mimicking animals. In a further act of dehumanization, the employees were forced to drink water from a bowl placed on the floor, similar to how animals are fed.
Eyewitness accounts and viral visuals indicate that this abuse was carried out under the guise of disciplinary action for underperformance. The grotesque nature of the punishment has ignited widespread condemnation from the public and civil rights activists.
Reacting swiftly to the public outrage, Kerala Labour Minister V. Sivankutty has taken cognizance of the incident and ordered an official inquiry. “This kind of behavior is unacceptable in a civilized society. We have directed labour officials to investigate the matter and take strict action,” the minister stated.
The video has triggered a wave of anger online, with netizens demanding justice for the employees and calling for stringent legal action against the perpetrators. The incident has also raised serious concerns about the unchecked power some corporate employers wield over their workforce and the urgent need for stronger workplace rights enforcement.
