The heat wave across Maharashtra continues to intensify, with temperatures steadily rising across multiple regions. On Sunday, Akola recorded the highest temperature in the state at a scorching 43.2 degrees Celsius.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), maximum temperatures in the state are expected to rise further by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the next two to three days. This surge is attributed to the flow of hot winds from the northern parts of the country, which has also caused a rise in minimum temperatures across the state.
Despite the heat, several parts of Maharashtra experienced unseasonal rainfall, accompanied by hailstorms in some areas. These weather fluctuations have added to the discomfort, with both daytime and nighttime temperatures remaining unusually high.
In addition to Akola, temperatures have crossed the 40-degree mark in several districts across Vidarbha, Marathwada, and Madhya Maharashtra. Notable among these are Jalgaon, Nashik, Solapur, Amravati, Nagpur, Yavatmal, and Wardha in Vidarbha, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Parbhani in Marathwada.
Meteorologists warn that the prevailing heat wave conditions are likely to persist, and citizens are advised to take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses.
