Ashtavinayak Darshan This Summer? New Dress Code Guidelines Issued by Chinchwad Devasthan Trust

Devotees planning a pilgrimage to the Ashtavinayak Ganpati temples during the summer vacation should take note of the new dress code guidelines issued by the Chinchwad Devasthan Trust. The Trust, which manages five of the prominent temples on the Ashtavinayak route, has appealed to visitors to follow traditional and modest attire in order to maintain the sanctity of temple premises.

Temples Under the Dress Code Jurisdiction

The dress code has been issued for devotees visiting the following temples:

  • Shri Mayureshwar Ganpati Mandir, Morgaon

  • Shri Chintamani Ganpati Mandir, Theur

  • Shri Siddhivinayak Ganpati Mandir, Siddhatek

  • Shri Morya Gosavi Sanjeevan Samadhi Mandir, Chinchwad

  • Shri Khar Narangi Ganpati Mandir

While the dress code is not mandatory, the Trust has requested devotees to voluntarily follow these guidelines as a mark of respect for the sacred atmosphere within temple premises.

Recommended Dress Code for Devotees

According to the Trust’s announcement, the following attire is recommended for visitors:

For Men:

  • Traditional or decent clothing

  • Shirts, t-shirts with full-length pants

  • Kurta-pyjama or dhoti-kurta combinations

For Women:

  • Sarees, salwar kameez, Punjabi suits

  • Other traditional attire that is respectful and covers the body appropriately

Not Allowed:

  • Transparent or revealing clothing

  • Sleeveless, slit, skin-tight, or off-shoulder outfits

  • Casual or western partywear deemed inappropriate for a spiritual environment

“These guidelines are meant to preserve the spiritual and cultural environment of our temples. We hope devotees will understand and support this effort,” said a spokesperson from the Chinchwad Devasthan Trust.

Purpose Behind the Guidelines

With increased footfall during vacation periods, especially among families and young devotees, the Trust felt it necessary to set expectations that align with traditional values associated with temple visits.

While no penalties will be imposed, the appeal encourages self-discipline and awareness among pilgrims and aims to enhance the devotional experience for all visitors.
