The hustle and bustle of local self-government elections is currently underway in the state. According to the election schedule announced by the Election Commission, voting for the municipal council and municipal panchayat elections in the state will be held on December 2, while counting will take place on December 3. Meanwhile, immediately afterwards, district council and panchayat committee elections are also likely to be held in the state, and it is estimated that municipal corporation elections may follow. In the meantime, a major update has emerged regarding the municipal council elections — the Election Commission has taken a significant decision regarding these elections, and elections in some constituencies have been postponed.

What exactly is the reason?

The Election Commission has postponed the elections for Ward No. 10 of Manmad Municipal Council, Ward No. 2 of Pimpalner Municipal Council in Dhule, and Ward No. 11 of Georai Municipal Council in Beed district. The election for Ward No. 10 of Manmad Municipal Council has been postponed by the Election Commission due to the death of Thackeray group candidate Nitin Waghmare from Ward No. 10, who suffered a heart attack. On the other hand, the election for Ward No. 2 of Pimpalner Municipal Council in Dhule has also been postponed. Similarly, the election for Ward No. 11 of Georai Municipal Council in Beed has been postponed due to the death of candidate Mrs. Durdana Begum Salim Faruqui.

Campaign Gains Momentum

Meanwhile, the campaign for the municipal council and municipal panchayat elections has now reached its final stage. With only five days left for voting, intense campaigning is underway, and major leaders are holding rallies for their party's candidates. Exchanges of accusations and counter-accusations are being witnessed. At this time, in many places, parties from the Grand Alliance and the Maha Vikas Aghadi are seen contesting the elections on their own strength.
