The state government has issued an order to cancel all birth certificates issued through Aadhaar card in the state. This is considered a major step by the government to curb the problem of using fake birth and death certificates for illegal purposes. State Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Thursday ordered the immediate cancellation of all suspicious certificates issued solely on the basis of Aadhaar card. He has also directed officials to immediately file an FIR.
Guidelines issued to the administration
The state's revenue department has issued 16-point verification guidelines to all tehsildars, sub-divisional officers, district collectors, and divisional commissioners. In the circular issued after a high-level meeting chaired by the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home and Revenue Department, it is clearly stated that, according to the central government's guidelines, the Aadhaar card cannot be accepted as the sole proof of date of birth or place of birth.

The government has issued these orders:
Certificates issued using only the Aadhaar card as proof will be considered invalid and will be cancelled.
If any discrepancy is found between the application details and the Aadhaar date of birth, an FIR should be filed immediately against the applicant.
Those who have failed to present the original or fake certificate, or whose whereabouts are unknown, should be declared “absconding” and an FIR should be filed against them.
The District Collector and Divisional Commissioner will organise special verification camps under their direct supervision.
