After the municipal council and municipal corporation elections, today the results of the district council and panchayat committee elections are being announced. After the voting held on Saturday, the BJP has once again demonstrated its strength in the local self-government bodies of Maharashtra. Voting was held for a total of 12 district councils in Maharashtra. Voting took place in the district councils of Pune, Solapur, Kolhapur, Satara, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Sangli, Raigad, Latur, Ratnagiri, Dharashiv, Parbhani, and Sindhudurg. According to the figures from the counting so far, the BJP is leading in 7 district councils, while Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena is leading in 2 district councils and Sunetra Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party is leading in 2 district councils.

In the panchayat committee elections, the dominance of the BJP is also clearly visible. Out of a total of 125 panchayat committees, the BJP has taken the lead in 84 places. Shiv Sena is leading in 15 places and the Nationalist Congress Party in 18 places. According to these results, after the municipal councils and corporations, the BJP has also maintained its dominance in the district councils and panchayat committees.

Success for NCP in Pune

In the election held after Ajit Pawar's untimely demise, the Nationalist Congress Party has achieved considerable success in Pune. Pune district is known as Ajit Pawar's stronghold. Under the leadership of Sunetra Pawar, the Nationalist Congress Party has won many seats. Despite Ajit Pawar's untimely demise due to a plane crash while campaigning for the district council elections in Baramati, NCP candidates received support from voters.

Situation of Mahavikas Aghadi and Other Parties

District council and panchayat committee elections are important to reach the rural population. Mahavikas Aghadi did not gain much benefit in these elections. Only Congress has won some seats. Meanwhile, Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray's group had to face a major defeat in this election.

Political analysts say that after these results, BJP's dominance in local politics in Maharashtra will increase. Due to the lead in municipal councils, municipal corporations, district councils, and panchayat committees, BJP will gain a lot of strength for the upcoming state elections. Also, due to the success of the Nationalist Congress Party in Pune, the possibility of Ajit Pawar's party leadership remaining intact has increased. The state of these results in local self-government institutions will have a direct impact on development, urban, and rural policies over the next five years.
