There is currently intense political discussion on merger in Maharashtra. Against this backdrop, senior leader of the Nationalist Congress Party and Minister Chhagan Bhujbal has suddenly reacted to the discussions. Bhujbal said that there is no reason to rush this discussion and all parties will have to sit together and think.

Chhagan Bhujbal said, “I don't understand why the discussion is always about 'merger, merger'? The merger can be done today, or even after a month or two. What is the reason for the hurry?” He raised questions on this. Bhujbal further stated that no final decision has been made yet and now all leaders, especially workers from both sides, will come together to think. “Sunetra Tai has been selected as the Deputy Chief Minister, and making her the national president is the primary agenda. Only then should further decisions about the merger be made,” he clarified.

Bhujbala said that some legislators are expressing opinions about the merger, but “there is no point in speaking vaguely. Give time to the new leadership — they will make decisions themselves.” He stated that discussions about the merger have been ongoing since the first day, so this haste may not make sense, and that after Ajit Pawar's sudden demise, these merger discussions have gained momentum, and opinions are being expressed on various disagreements and future strategies.

Chhagan Bhujbal also mentioned an important point that all party workers and leaders will “sit together and discuss, and only then decisions will be made.” Therefore, Bhujbal believes there is a need to establish good wishes and policies through proper political dialogue without rushing. Besides, although some leaders and MLAs are expressing various opinions regarding the merger, no official proposal or decision has yet been made, which has also been raised. As political equations are changing, everyone's attention is also on the party's leadership process.
