The inauguration of the Amravati Airport marked a significant milestone in Maharashtra’s infrastructure development. The event witnessed the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, who used the occasion not only to celebrate progress but also to deliver a sharp critique of the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, known for his candid style, launched an aggressive verbal attack on the MVA government during his address. Highlighting the delay in the airport project, Shinde said, “The construction of the airport began during the 2014–2019 tenure when Devendra Fadnavis was the Chief Minister. But after that, the succeeding government halted the work entirely.”
He added, “When the Mahayuti government came to power in 2022, we revived this stalled project with urgency and commitment.” Shinde emphasized that while leadership roles may shift, the goal of development remains unchanged. “Back then, I was the pilot and Devendraji and Ajit Pawar were co-pilots. Today, Devendraji is the pilot, and we are the co-pilots. But remember, even if the pilot changes, the engine remains the same—and that engine is development.”
Shinde further took aim at the previous administration, accusing it of prioritizing issues over progress. “The former government focused more on problems than solutions. Projects like the Mumbai Samruddhi Mahamarg, Coastal Road, Atal Setu, and Navi Mumbai Airport are proof of our development-focused agenda,” he asserted.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis used the platform to unveil a major educational initiative. “A Pilot Training School will be established in Amravati, which will place this city on the global aviation map,” he announced. Fadnavis also mentioned that the dignitaries arrived at the event in the first aircraft allocated by the central government, highlighting the symbolic importance of the moment.
