Popular television sitcom ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ is once again making headlines, not for its comedy, but for rumors circulating on social media about two of its most loved characters — Jethalal and Babita Ji — allegedly quitting the show. Fans have expressed concern after both characters were noticeably absent from recent episodes, particularly the ongoing "Bhootni" storyline.
Jethalal is played by veteran actor Dilip Joshi, while Babita Ji is portrayed by Munmun Dutta. Their absence sparked speculation that the actors may have parted ways with the long-running show.
In response to the growing buzz, the show's producer Asit Kumar Modi gave an interview clarifying the situation. Dismissing the rumors, he stated:
"Dilip Joshi and Munmun Dutta are an important part of our team. Due to some personal reasons, they were not seen in a few episodes. That doesn’t mean they’ve left the show."
Asit Modi also expressed concern over the negative narratives being spread online. He emphasized the nature of the show, saying,
"Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is a positive, family-oriented show. The audience should also maintain a positive outlook. Spreading rumors based on small changes is not appropriate."
As of now, no official confirmation has been made regarding the exit of either Dilip Joshi or Munmun Dutta. The production team has neither announced replacements nor issued any formal statement about the characters being written off. Fans have been advised to wait for official updates and not jump to conclusions based on episodic appearances.
The show, which has been airing since 2008, remains one of India’s longest-running and most beloved sitcoms. Any change in its iconic cast naturally draws massive attention — but for now, Jethalal and Babita Ji remain part of the Gokuldham family.
