After the Maratha community's agitation, the state government has accepted the Hyderabad Gazetteer and issued a government resolution regarding it. However, some OBC leaders and organizations have opposed this decision, and Food and Civil Supplies Minister Chhagan Bhujbal has also objected, warning of approaching the court.
In this context, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis clarified that this GR is not universally applicable but is only in the form of evidence. Since records related to caste from the Nizam era in Marathwada are only available in the Hyderabad Gazetteer, those pieces of evidence have been considered valid. Therefore, only those who are truly Kunbi will benefit, and no one can falsify, he said.
Fadnavis further clarified that this decision will not have any impact on the OBC community. Many OBC organizations have stated that this decision is welcome, and the government is committed to resolving everyone's doubts. He expressed confidence that Chhagan Bhujbal's doubts will also be resolved.
The Chief Minister said that during their government's tenure, there will be no injustice to the OBC community. The government does not intend to take away the reservation of one community and give it to another. Fadnavis assured that Marathas will be given their rights and OBCs will be given their rights.
