(Ganesh Naik On Leopard) Currently, leopard attacks are increasing in Maharashtra. Therefore, Forest Minister Ganesh Naik has made a significant decision. Speaking to the media, Ganesh Naik said, "Considering Junnar and Shirur talukas, there were 82 deserted places, where sugarcane, vegetables, and water became available, creating a forest-like situation. Initially, other animals like rabbits, wolves, and foxes were present, so leopards did not come, but now they have started coming, and breeding is happening. After the sugarcane harvest, attacks have increased. There are 200 cages to catch leopards, which will be increased to 1,000."
"Dogs and goats are unnecessarily sacrificed, and animal friends object to this. The goats and dogs were kept safe and action was taken. Local people will be involved in this campaign, and some cameras will be installed through AI means. When the leopard arrives, sirens will be sounded. A system worth 11 crore rupees will be set up for Pune district, and a similar system will be provided in Ahilyanagar, ensuring safety due to the Nashik Kumbh Mela. Decisions regarding leopard attacks will be made at a war level, ensuring no loss of life."
"Goats will be preyed upon by leopards, people will be made aware, releasing goats into the forest will reduce attacks. Some leopards will also be given to Vantaraa, actions are underway regarding this, within 10 to 12 days they will also be sent to Vantaraa, they will be sent to African forests. The forest area in Nagar district is 9 percent, which is less, there is the Tadoba project where there are new species of bamboo, a 60-foot wall will be built, bamboo will be cut every three years, and permission has been granted for sterilizing leopards."
