The state government has made an important and far-reaching decision to maintain the quality, credibility, and transparency of the Class 10 and Class 12 certificate examinations conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education. To prevent malpractices during the 10th-12th examinations, create a copy-free environment, and conduct the exams peacefully and in an orderly manner, an independent 'State Level Vigilance Committee' will now be established at the state level. This decision has been taken by the state's School Education Department.
Currently, vigilance committees are active at the district level in the state. However, it was brought to the government's attention that there is a need for a state-level committee for more effective coordination, control, and unified implementation in exam management across the state. This decision has been made in this context, and it is expected to bring more discipline, transparency, and reliability to the entire examination process.
The exams for the tenth and twelfth grades are considered one of the most important milestones in a student's academic life. If there is cheating, malpractice, a stressful environment, or any kind of inappropriate interference during these exams, it can adversely affect the students' performance and future. Therefore, creating a calm, stress-free, and healthy environment at the examination centers will be the main objective of this state-level vigilance committee. Additionally, there will be an emphasis on implementing the anti-cheating campaign more effectively to enhance the quality among students.
This state-level vigilance committee will be established under the chairmanship of the state's Education Commissioner. The committee will include the Chairman of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Pune. Additionally, all Special Police Inspectors General of the state, Additional Commissioners of all Divisional Commissioner Offices, Director of Primary Education, Director of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, as well as the Director of Education (Planning) will serve as members. The main objective of this committee is to maintain effective control over the examination process by coordinating various departments.
Through this committee, surprise inspections during the examination period, prompt attention to complaints, and strict enforcement of discipline and security at examination centers will be implemented. Coordination between the police administration and the education department will be strengthened, and immediate and strict action will be taken against any kind of misconduct, as indicated by the school education department. This decision is expected to make the tenth and twelfth-grade exams more transparent, reliable, and stress-free for students, as expressed by students, parents, and education experts.
