The dispute over the Islamic Information Centre's billboard in Amravati has now escalated to direct threats. BJP MP Anil Bonde received a warning via email from Hyderabad due to his statements opposing the billboard, creating a tense atmosphere in the city.
A few days ago, a signboard for the Islamic Information Center was put up at the main square in the city. MP Bonde raised questions with the police regarding the permission process for this signboard. Following his statement, an email expressing anger was sent to his official email on Monday night.
The email, which begins with “Assalamu Alaikum Dr. Saheb”, mentions that Bonde's words have created a “tense and heated atmosphere” among the Muslim community in Hyderabad. The email warns, “You have hurt our religious sentiments. Even a single wrong word can ignite the atmosphere. Exercise restraint in your statements.”
A complaint about this email has been registered at the Rajapeth Police Station by the office of Anil Bonde. The police are investigating the source of this email, the individuals involved, and the intent behind it. In light of religious sensitivities, the Amravati police have increased vigilance.
