Often the question arises as to why the RSS, the largest organization in India, is not registered. Finally, the head of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Mohan Bhagwat, has answered this. He was speaking at an event organized in Bengaluru on the occasion of the centenary of the Sangh. While speaking, he said, you know, the Sangh was established in 1925, so do you expect us to register with the British government? Should we register with the very British government we were fighting against? Mohan Bhagwat raised this question at the time. He also mentioned that after independence, registration is not mandatory under the laws of independent India.

Even organizations that are not registered are given legal status, and therefore we have been placed in this category and recognized as an organization. We were banned three times, which means the government has recognized us as an organization, Mohan Bhagwat also said at this time. If we were not an organization, whom would they have imposed restrictions on? Each time the court has lifted the ban on us and recognized us as a legal organization, Mohan Bhagwat also said at this time.

Meanwhile, speaking further, he said that questions have often been raised about the RSS in Parliament and other places, but the court has stated that RSS is an organization, so it is not unconstitutional. Many things are not registered, even Hinduism is not registered, RSS has been banned three times before, which means the government has recognized us. If our organization did not exist, whom would they have imposed restrictions on, Mohan Bhagwat raised this question at the time.
