Against the backdrop of the tenth and twelfth exams held in February-March, the Mumbai Municipal Corporation has made an important decision to provide students with a safe, disciplined, and transparent environment. It has been decided to install CCTV cameras at the examination centers in the schools of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, and for this, the education department of the corporation has established a special committee.
The tenth and twelfth exams are considered one of the most important stages in a student's life. The education department of the corporation has clarified that the decision to install CCTV cameras has been made to prevent any misconduct during the exams, curb practices like copying, and maintain transparency in the examination process.
A special committee of 13 members has been established for the implementation of this initiative. Sujata Khare has been appointed as the chairperson of this committee. The committee includes the Deputy Education Officer, two engineers, officials related to school administration, representatives from the security department, as well as principals and teachers from schools where examination centers are located.
This committee will prepare a detailed plan regarding the process of installing CCTV at examination centers, technical aspects, the number of cameras, their proper placement, monitoring, and maintenance. It is also stated that special care will be taken to ensure that students' privacy is not compromised through CCTV.
Installing CCTV cameras at exam centers in municipal schools will bring discipline to the examination process, curb malpractices, and provide a safer environment for students, the administration has expressed confidence. Additionally, if any untoward incident occurs during the examination period, it will be possible to take immediate notice. This decision is considered a positive step in the field of education, and it is speculated that other municipal corporations or educational institutions may implement similar measures in the future.
