A crucial meeting of the Maharashtra State Cabinet was held today at 12 noon at Mantralaya, during which a series of important decisions were taken, signaling the government's intent to address key issues ranging from agriculture to infrastructure and local governance. The meeting began with a detailed review of the heavy rains across the state and its impact on agricultural sowing. Ministers discussed relief measures and the need for proactive planning to support farmers during this monsoon season.
The issue of fund distribution was also on the agenda. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde assured all ministers that there would be no shortage of funds and that resources would be allocated equitably to meet developmental and emergency needs across all regions.
With local body elections on the horizon, the cabinet also deliberated on electoral preparations and strategies, indicating the growing political momentum in the state.
Stamp Duty Waiver for Dharavi Redevelopment:
The cabinet approved a waiver of stamp duty on lease agreements related to the Dharavi redevelopment project, aiming to accelerate progress on one of Mumbai’s most ambitious urban renewal efforts.
Approval for Virar-Alibaug Corridor:
The long-awaited Virar–Alibaug multi-modal corridor was greenlit under the ‘Build, Operate, Transfer (BOT)’ model. This move is expected to significantly boost regional connectivity and ease congestion.
Honorarium Doubled for Emergency-Era Prisoners:
In a symbolic move, the government decided to double the honorarium for individuals who were imprisoned during the Emergency (1975–1977), recognizing their sacrifices during a pivotal time in Indian democracy.
These decisions reflect the government’s broad focus on development, social justice, and infrastructure enhancement as Maharashtra navigates complex challenges during the ongoing monsoon and prepares for key elections.
