In a significant political development in Maharashtra, Sharad Pawar’s faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has suffered a major blow in Nanded district, as several key office bearers, including the taluka president, have switched allegiance to Ajit Pawar’s NCP.

Among those who joined are Ankush Desai, Taluka President, and Tarakeshwari Patil, Taluka Women’s Wing President, along with hundreds of other local leaders and office bearers. The induction into Ajit Pawar’s faction took place in the presence of MLA Pratap Patil Chikhlikar, a prominent figure in the region.

Addressing the gathering, Chikhlikar expressed confidence that more senior leaders will soon join Ajit Pawar’s side, adding, “Nanded district will soon be completely Nationalist.”

This defection marks another episode in the ongoing power struggle between Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar, following the party's split in 2023. The latest shift in political loyalty is expected to impact Sharad Pawar’s organizational strength in Marathwada, particularly ahead of the upcoming elections.

The development has also intensified political activities in the region, with both factions ramping up their efforts to secure support and consolidate their presence.
