A tragic case of food poisoning has emerged from Shahgad Road in Paithan, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, where 13 laborers working at a brick kiln fell seriously ill after consuming stale chicken. The incident turned fatal for Lalita Premlata Palaviya, a 33-year-old woman, who died during treatment on Sunday morning. The remaining 12 laborers are currently undergoing treatment at a nearby private hospital.
According to reports, the laborers had purchased chicken from the local weekly market on Friday, which was then cooked and consumed on Saturday, May 17. Within hours of eating the meal, all 13 began experiencing nausea, vomiting, and severe physical discomfort. They were rushed to a private hospital where they received immediate treatment.
Tragically, Lalita Palaviya could not survive and passed away during the early hours of Sunday.

According to attending doctors, all patients are currently in stable condition and recovering under observation.
Dr. Vishnu Babar, who is overseeing the treatment, stated, “A major disaster was averted due to timely medical intervention. The patients reported food poisoning symptoms after eating stale chicken.” One of the affected, Mangal Thackeray, confirmed that the chicken purchased on Friday had been stored and consumed the next day, which likely caused the poisoning.
The incident has triggered outrage in the local community, with many demanding strict action against the food vendors involved. The local administration has taken cognizance of the matter and initiated a thorough investigation to identify accountability and prevent such incidents in the future.
