Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Father in Jail, Son Takes Over Ganja Business — 1.3 kg Seized by CIDCO Police

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Father in jail, son ran a marijuana selling business; CIDCO police seized a large quantity of marijuana.

Team Lokshahi

In a startling case that highlights the generational shadow of crime, CIDCO police have uncovered a marijuana smuggling operation being carried out by the son of a convicted drug trafficker. The accused, Amol Ashok Bhalerao (26), was caught red-handed with 1 kg 310 grams of ganja during a police raid at his residence in Misarwadi.

The case came to light when police received a tip-off about suspicious activity at Amol’s home. Acting on the information, a team led by Assistant Police Inspector Yogesh Gaikwad raided the premises. During the search, conducted in the presence of a panch, officers discovered two ganja pods near Amol. Further inspection revealed a plastic bag wrapped in an old cloth containing a substantial quantity of marijuana.

Crime Legacy: Like Father, Like Son

Amol’s father, Ashok Bhalerao, is already behind bars under the MPDA Act for his involvement in ganja smuggling activities in Sarai. According to police sources, with his father incarcerated, Amol took over the illegal trade and began operating the business from his residence, turning it into a center for the sale of marijuana.

Well-Planned Operation Busted

The operation was based on secret intelligence, and the successful raid has led to the registration of a case at CIDCO Police Station. The complaint was lodged by Police Sub-Inspector Subhash Shewale, and the raid team included PI Somnath Jadhav, API Yogesh Gaikwad, Havaldars Mangesh Pawar, Pradeep Dandawate, Vishal Sonawane, Pradeep Farkade, Sahdev Sable, and Manda Handke.

The investigation is currently being led by Senior Police Inspector Nitin, who stated that a special team has been formed to trace the broader network involved in ganja smuggling in the Sambhajinagar area.

A Major Setback for Local Drug Network

Police believe this bust is a significant blow to the local drug trade and could help dismantle a wider criminal network operating in the region. Efforts are now focused on identifying other individuals linked to the smuggling chain and bringing them to justice.
