In Tuesday’s IPL 2025 clash between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), LSG captain Rishabh Pant played a spectacular innings, scoring 118 runs, and even celebrated his century with a signature flip. Despite his efforts, RCB emerged victorious, overshadowing Pant’s brilliant knock.
However, beyond the performance, the spotlight has now shifted to disciplinary action. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has imposed a ₹30 lakh fine on Rishabh Pant for maintaining a slow over rate during the match.
According to the IPL Code of Conduct, this incident marks LSG’s third over-rate offence of the season, triggering a steeper penalty. Pant failed to ensure that his team bowled the required number of overs within the stipulated time, leading to the hefty fine.
This penalty reflects stricter enforcement of time management regulations in IPL 2025. The BCCI aims to maintain the pace and competitiveness of the tournament by penalizing repeat offenders.
Despite Pant's remarkable performance in this particular match, his overall form in IPL 2025 has been underwhelming. Prior to this innings, he had scored only 151 runs in 13 games. While his century was a highlight, the team’s loss and disciplinary issues have added to LSG's challenges this season.
