Three major railway projects have been approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The estimated cost of these multi-tracking projects is approximately 18,509 crore rupees. According to the government, these projects will strengthen the railway network and make transportation more convenient for passengers.
The government has approved the work of laying the third and fourth railway lines on the Kasara-Manmad, Delhi-Ambala, and Ballari-Hosapete routes. These projects will reduce congestion on the tracks and make travel smoother.
These projects will directly benefit approximately 9.7 million people in 12 districts of Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra, and Karnataka. An estimated 389 kilometers of new railway network will be created, improving connectivity in 3,902 villages.
The government has stated that these projects will enhance the efficiency of Indian Railways. The construction of new routes will reduce delays, making the service more reliable. These projects have been developed under the Prime Minister's Gati Shakti National Master Plan. Boost to the Tourism Sector
Improved railway connectivity will enhance access to major tourist destinations across the country, such as:
Bhavali Dam
Shri Ghatandevi
Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra/Srinagar
Hampi (UNESCO World Heritage Site)
Bellary Fort
Daroji Sloth Bear Sanctuary
Tungabhadra Dam
Kenchangudda
Vijaya Vittala Temple
These projects will give a significant boost to the tourism industry and also improve the local economy.
These projects are also important for freight transport. The transportation of essential goods like coal, steel, cement, grains, and fertilizers will now be faster and safer. According to government estimates, this will increase the additional freight capacity by 96 million tons annually.
Additionally, this initiative will benefit the environment. Increased use of rail transport will reduce oil imports and decrease carbon emissions. This will also reduce the country's logistics costs and achieve climate-related goals.
This decision by the government will ensure smooth, fast, and safe railway travel, as well as economic and environmental benefits for the country.
