Aadhaar Card Tips In today's digital age, the Aadhaar card has become an extremely important document for every citizen, not just an identity card. It is mandatory for school-college admissions, job applications, bank accounts, SIM cards, government schemes, and various online services. However, as the use of the Aadhaar card increases, so does the risk of its misuse.

Against this backdrop, UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) has issued some important guidelines for citizens to keep their Aadhaar card secure. According to UIDAI, if Aadhaar-related information falls into the wrong hands, the possibility of financial fraud, identity theft, or cyber crimes cannot be ruled out. Therefore, it is extremely important for every citizen to be aware of Aadhaar security.

1) Never share OTP

When conducting any transaction related to Aadhaar, OTP (One Time Password) is the most important part of security. UIDAI has clarified that OTP should not be disclosed to any bank employee, agent, or officer. Sharing OTP can open your Aadhaar-related information to misuse.

2) Keep Biometric Lock Enabled

You can lock your fingerprint, iris, and face data through the UIDAI website or the 'mAadhaar' app. This ensures that no one can use your biometric information. If needed, this feature can be temporarily unlocked.

3) Do Not Share Aadhaar Information Online

Do not post photos or details of your Aadhaar card on social media, WhatsApp, or any public website. Cybercriminals can easily copy this information and commit financial fraud.

4) Use 'Masked Aadhaar'

If you need to provide Aadhaar as proof of identity, UIDAI advises using 'Masked Aadhaar' instead of the full Aadhaar card. In this, the first 8 digits of Aadhaar are hidden, and only the last 4 digits are visible.

5) Contact only the official helpline

If you suspect misuse of Aadhaar, immediately report it to the cybercrime helpline at 1930. Also, for any assistance related to Aadhaar, contact only the UIDAI helpline at 1947.

By following these 5 simple yet important rules of UIDAI, your Aadhaar card and personal information can remain secure. A little awareness in the digital age can save you from major financial and legal troubles.
