A newlywed woman, Mayuri Gaurav Thosar (age 23), residing in Sundarmoti Nagar area of Jalgaon city, has reportedly committed suicide. Mayuri, who got married just four months ago, is alleged by her family to have hanged herself due to harassment from her in-laws. Originally from Padali village in Buldhana district, Mayuri was married to Gaurav Thosar on May 10. However, her family claims that shortly after the marriage, she was subjected to mental and physical harassment by her in-laws and was being demanded for money.

Mayuri's birthday was celebrated on September 9. However, the very next day, on September 10, she committed suicide by hanging herself when no one was at home in the afternoon. She was immediately taken to the district hospital, but the doctors declared her dead.

After this incident, on September 11, Mayuri's father, Bhagwan Budukale, and relatives arrived in Jalgaon. They demanded strict action and filed a case against husband Gaurav Thosar, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law, demanding their immediate arrest. They also warned that they would not take possession of the body if the accused were not arrested. This created a tense atmosphere at the district hospital for some time. The situation was brought under control after discussions between the relatives and the police. This incident has caused concern in the area, and the issue of suicides due to harassment by in-laws has once again come to the forefront.
