Jitendra Awhad, senior leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar faction), has strongly criticized former U.S. President Donald Trump's remarks following the recent ceasefire announcement between India and Pakistan.

Reacting to Trump’s comments, Awhad said, “Who is Donald Trump for us? Will he decide the direction of our country? We don't even consider him a political figure — Donald Trump is not political; he is a businessman.”

Awhad went on to question Trump’s growing influence, suggesting that his approach is driven more by commercial interests than genuine diplomacy. “The speed at which Donald Trump is moving forward, in another five years, it will become difficult for Indians to live in America,” Awhad added, indicating concerns over Trump’s policies and their potential impact on the Indian diaspora.

Awhad’s remarks reflect skepticism over foreign involvement in South Asia’s strategic decisions and emphasize a nationalist stance on sovereignty and diplomatic autonomy. His sharp reaction comes after Trump praised both Indian and Pakistani leadership for agreeing to a ceasefire, and credited the U.S. for playing a positive role.

The comments have sparked debate on social media, highlighting the complex dynamics of international relations and the political undertones tied to peace negotiations in the region.
