As the city celebrates Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti with immense enthusiasm, large gatherings of followers have started arriving at Chaityabhoomi in Dadar, one of the most prominent locations of tribute. In light of the massive footfall, the Mumbai Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory outlining major diversions and road closures in the city, especially in the Dadar area.
The advisory states that traffic restrictions will remain in place until midnight on April 14, to manage the expected congestion and ensure the safety of pedestrians and commuters.
The following changes have been implemented for the day:
S. K. Bole Road will operate as a one-way route from Siddhivinayak Temple Junction to Portuguese Church.
Swatantraveer Savarkar Marg will be closed for all traffic from Siddhivinayak Temple Junction to Yes Bank.
Ranade Road will remain completely closed to all vehicles.
Dnyaneshwar Temple Road, and the stretch from S.V.S. Road Junction to Dadar Chowpatty, will be shut for all vehicular traffic, including heavy and goods vehicles.
Heavy vehicles will be diverted from Mahim Junction via L. J. Road.
To ease traffic flow and minimize disruption, the following diversion plans have been suggested:
Take a left at Kalanagar Junction, then right at Dharavi T Junction toward Kemkar Chowk.
Continue via 60 Feet Road, Kumbharwada, and onward to Sion Hospital.
Alternatively, commuters can use the Bandra-Worli Sea Link to reach South Mumbai.
Use P. D. Mello Road, Barrister Nath Pai Road, Zakaria Bunder Road, and R. A. K. Marg.
At Aurora Bridge in Matunga, turn right and proceed via Sion Hospital Junction.
An alternate option is to take the Bandra-Worli Sea Flyover for reaching North Mumbai.
Turn right onto Dr. E. Moses Road, proceed to Rakhangi Chowk, and continue via Senapati Bapat Road.
Take the route via Wadala Bridge, then continue through Barkat Ali Naka, B. P. T. Colony, and onto the Eastern Freeway.
The Mumbai Traffic Police urges commuters to plan their journeys in advance, use public transportation where possible, and cooperate with law enforcement for a smooth and safe celebration. With thousands expected at Chaityabhoomi throughout the day, pedestrian zones and congestion are anticipated, especially in central Mumbai.
Stay tuned to official traffic updates and advisories for any real-time changes during the day.
