A mega block will be conducted on some routes of Central Railway on Sunday, December 28, for maintenance and repair work of Mumbai suburban railway. This mega block will affect the local service on Central and Harbour lines, and the railway administration has appealed to passengers to check the schedule before traveling.
There will be a megablock on the Central Railway's fast track between Matunga and Mulund stations from 11:05 AM to 3:45 PM. During this period, fast track local services will be operated on the slow track. As a result, local trains are likely to run approximately 10 to 15 minutes late.
Additionally, there will be a block on both up and down tracks on the Harbour line between CSMT and Chunabhatti and Bandra stations from 11:10 AM to 4:10 PM. During this time, local services on the Harbour line between CSMT and Chunabhatti as well as Bandra to Goregaon will be completely suspended. For the convenience of passengers, special local trains will be operated from Kurla station towards Panvel during this period.
Meanwhile, on the night of December 31, a large number of commuters and tourists come to South Mumbai to welcome the New Year. To avoid inconvenience to them, Central Railway has decided to run four special locals and Western Railway has decided to run eight special locals. All four special locals of Central Railway on CSMT–Kalyan, Kalyan–CSMT, CSMT–Panvel, and Panvel–CSMT routes will run at 1:30 AM.
On the Western Railway's Churchgate–Virar–Churchgate route, eight special locals will be operated late into the night, providing great relief to citizens returning home after celebrating the New Year.
