A major relief has been received regarding the depot of Metro 6 corridor, one of the important infrastructure projects in Mumbai. The project's path has been cleared as the Bombay High Court has dismissed the petition claiming ownership of the proposed depot site at Kanjurmarg.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has planned to set up a depot for Metro 6 on approximately 15 hectares of land in the Kanjurmarg area. A dispute had arisen regarding the ownership of this land. The concerned party had filed a petition in court demanding a stay on the construction of the depot. However, the High Court dismissed this petition and ruled in favor of the MMRDA.

Metro 6 is an important corridor running between Swami Samarth Nagar (Andheri) and Vikhroli. This project is considered extremely important for improving east-west connectivity in the city. Since the depot for this corridor will be set up at Kanjurmarg, maintenance, parking, and technical facilities for the trains will be available at a single location.

The construction of the depot will accelerate the project's work and also boost future expansion plans, as clarified by MMRDA officials. The site at Kanjurmarg is strategically important and will be useful for the integrated development of the metro network. The court's decision has removed uncertainty from the project. This will help the administration complete the Metro 6 line work on schedule. Considering the increasing traffic congestion in Mumbai, the Metro 6 line will be a major relief for passengers.

The contribution of metro projects to the development of urban infrastructure is significant. After the commencement of Metro Line 6, passengers in areas like Andheri, Jogeshwari, Goregaon, Kanjurmarg, and Vikhroli will have access to fast, safe, and environmentally friendly travel. Overall, due to the High Court's decision, the path for the Metro 6 depot has been cleared, and there are no longer any legal obstacles in the implementation of the project.
