BJP MP Nishikant Dubey made anti-Marathi remarks a few days ago, prompting Congress women MPs to take an aggressive stance in the Parliament premises. Mumbai MP Varsha Gaikwad, Chandrapur's Pratibha Dhanorkar, and Dhule's Shobha Bachhav directly questioned Dubey. This bold action was praised by MNS chief Raj Thackeray.
Raj Thackeray writes in a letter to Varsha Gaikwad -
To, MP Varshatai Gaikwad, Warm regards, Jai Maharashtra!
Heartfelt congratulations to you for confronting Nishikant Dubey in Parliament, who arrogantly stated that Marathi people should be beaten up. While there has been frequent injustice and insult to Maharashtra, Marathi people, and the Marathi language, the image of MPs representing Maharashtra in Parliament being silent was emerging before the Marathi public, which you have shattered with this action. Many thanks for this.
Maharashtra is currently 'engulfed by thoughts of taking a broad stance.' In my opinion, this is a self-imposed inferiority complex. It is true that Maharashtra should think about the country because it is one of the few states capable of considering and doing something for the country, and Maharashtra is at the forefront of this. But because of this, we are forgetting that we are Marathi, elected by the Marathi people, and therefore our primary responsibility is towards these people and this region.
This is why we forget that the Marathas ruled the Hindu province for 125 years and were instrumental in shaping the 1857 uprising and the subsequent freedom struggle. Therefore, it is essential to consistently demonstrate the strength of Maharashtra and the Marathi people to the arrogant ones in Delhi, and I sincerely thank you for doing so.
We don't know why the other 45 MPs from Maharashtra are silent, but the courage you have shown is commendable. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena hopes that your voice in Parliament for Maharashtra will remain strong. Any ideological differences in front of Maharashtra, the Marathi language, and the Marathi people are extremely trivial! Best wishes for your future endeavors! Yours sincerely, Raj Thackeray
Marathi women stood firm in Parliament for Marathi identity, and this is now being recognized at various levels of politics.
