In Brief
Degree in four years!
Changes in National Education Policy
Multiple courses at the same time
There will no longer be a need to spend five years to obtain a degree. A degree can be obtained in just four years after the tenth grade. Changes have been made in the new educational policy in this regard, and guidelines related to this will be announced in the month of February.
Dr. R. D. Kulkarni, Vice-Chancellor of Mumbai University, provided this information. He was speaking at an award ceremony organized by the Center for Educational Development Administration (CEDA) at BMCC College. While preparing the new national education policy, the interest in education has been taken into account. Small courses have been designed by including subjects of interest. Additionally, careful consideration has been given to how students can be made capable and skilled, said Kulkarni.
'Many aspects of the new policy were implemented on an experimental basis. Some of these aspects were successful. Some of the shortcomings have been addressed. This policy has been made more accessible. Soon, the undergraduate course will be four years long. Work is underway on this, they said.
Multiple Courses at the Same Time
The new policy provides for the option to study multiple courses simultaneously. Colleges were not favorable to granting such an option. However, gradually, colleges have started to realize its importance. Colleges are now ready to offer admissions to engineering along with science, commerce, and arts, said Kulkarni.
