Shocking information has emerged in the verification process of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation's voter list, revealing that there are as many as one and a half lakh duplicate voters in the city. However, the corporation has clarified that the numbers are decreasing after thorough verification.

Under the voter list verification campaign being conducted by the municipal corporation, nearly 11,000 objections and suggestions have been received so far. The scrutiny of these objections is progressing rapidly, and the administration has set a target to complete the verification work by December 23.

Duplicate names separated in two phases

In the first phase, duplicate names of voters registered in the same ward have been separated, and it is reported that there are about 90,000 such names. Subsequently, in the second phase, names of voters registered in two different wards have been identified.

Most duplicate names in Kurla area

The highest number of duplicate voters has been found in the Kurla area. Following that, a large number of duplicate names have also been found in the Andheri West and Kandivali areas. This has raised questions about the accuracy of the voter lists in these areas.

Thousands of Home Visits, Affidavit Process

According to the municipal information, 53,585 home visits have been completed so far, and affidavits have been collected from 24,721 citizens. It is believed that this process will make the voter list more transparent and accurate. This campaign by the municipality is considered extremely important in the context of the upcoming elections, with the administration focusing on preparing the final voter list by excluding duplicate voters. The final figures will be clarified after December 23.
