A serious incident has taken place amid the noise of the Jayanti celebrations going on in the city. When the police merely asked the DJ to lower the volume, the angry DJ drivers grabbed the policeman by the collar and pushed him in a shocking incident that took place at Kranti Chowk on Monday night.

What exactly happened?

On Monday night, around 11.50 pm, a Jayanti procession was underway between Krantichowk and Gulmandi under police protection. At the same time, the police noticed a 20-year-old girl crying in the crowd at some distance from the Kadim Masjid. When Deputy Commissioner of Police Nitin Bagate immediately rushed to the spot and questioned her, she informed that an unknown person had behaved obscenely with her.

However, the DJ's loud voice was making it difficult to communicate. Therefore, Bagate ordered Police Constable Umesh Awhale to reduce the volume of the nearby DJ. At that time, DJ drivers Ajay Bhimrao Kakade (age 32) and Deepak Uttam Dabhade (age 38), both from Nagsen Nagar, reacted angrily and grabbed Constable Awhale by the collar, pushed him and tried to snatch his baton.

Case registered, two arrested

In this case, a case has been registered against the two at the Krantichowk police station under serious sections of obstructing government work and attacking government employees. The accused have been taken into custody and further investigation is being conducted by Sub-Inspector Ashok Ingole. In the wake of the incident, the police have increased security in the area.
