Citizens are troubled as the heat has been intense in the state since the beginning of February. Although there is some coolness in the morning, the temperature rises rapidly after noon. However, a significant change in the weather is expected now. According to weather experts, light to moderate rain showers may occur in some districts of Maharashtra between February 17 and 18.
The impact of the 'Western Disturbance', which is continuously active in North India, is being felt in various parts of the country. Its effects are also likely to be seen in Maharashtra. Due to the moist winds coming from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal, a low-pressure area is forming in some parts of the state, according to the Meteorological Department. Due to these changes, the weather is likely to remain cloudy, and there may be showers in some places.
Cloudy weather may persist in some districts of central Maharashtra, including the Pune division. Although there is no likelihood of heavy rainfall, this precipitation in February could be a cause of concern for farmers. Experts have expressed the possibility of it affecting crops in the Rabi season. Particularly, untimely rain could impact wheat, chickpeas, and onion crops.
Meanwhile, the flow of cold winds coming from the northwest has increased, leading to a drop in minimum temperatures. These winds have become colder due to snowfall in the hilly areas, resulting in an increase in nighttime chill. A slight drop in temperature has been recorded in North Maharashtra, Vidarbha, and Khandesh regions. It is predicted that this situation will persist for the next few days.
In Nashik, the maximum temperature has exceeded 32 degrees Celsius for the past four days. The heat in the city has increased, and the sun's intensity is more noticeable in the afternoon. The morning chill has decreased, and the heat is also being felt at night. The increase in maximum and minimum temperatures is proving troublesome for the citizens. Overall, after the dry weather in February, the weather in the state is rapidly changing. Considering the possibility of cloudy weather and light showers in the coming days, farmers are advised to take necessary precautions, as urged by weather experts.
