Sanskruti had been playing in the courtyard near her house when she suddenly disappeared. As hours passed with no sign of her, the family began searching the village, eventually reporting the incident to the police.
In response, police teams launched a massive overnight search operation, using drones and ground personnel to comb through the surrounding fields and areas near the highway.
At around 5:00 AM on Friday, her body was found in Shivara, a field on the outskirts of the village. The remains were sent to Karad Upazila Hospital for post-mortem examination, and the final report is awaited to determine the exact cause and timing of death.
The search operation was led by Superintendent of Police Sameer Shaikh and Additional SP Vaishali Kadukar, with support from local crime branch teams.
In a swift development, the police have detained two individuals, including a 16-year-old girl, in connection with the case. They are currently being interrogated, and officials say more information may surface that could establish a motive or further details of the crime.
“We are exploring all angles and taking this investigation very seriously,” said a senior officer involved in the case.
The murder of young Sanskruti has triggered widespread grief and outrage in Wathar village. The community has come together in mourning, and villagers are demanding strict and swift action against those responsible.
This tragic incident has also renewed public discourse on the urgent need for enhanced child protection measures in rural areas, where children often play unsupervised in open spaces.
“No parent should have to face this nightmare. We want justice for Sanskruti,” said a local resident, joining a growing chorus demanding accountability.
