To resolve the ongoing internal factionalism within the Maharashtra Congress, Congress state president Harshvardhan Sapkal has taken the initiative, and it has come to light that an important secret meeting took place in Nagpur. Senior Congress leaders Vijay Wadettiwar and Pratibha Dhanorkar were present at this meeting. The main purpose of this meeting was to resolve the dispute arising from the establishment of power and distribution of positions in the Chandrapur Municipal Corporation.

While Congress had the opportunity to establish power in the Chandrapur Municipal Corporation, the party has faced difficulties due to differences between the Wadettiwar and Dhanorkar factions. Against this backdrop, state president Sapkal personally intervened and called both leaders to Nagpur in an attempt to reconcile. Detailed discussions took place among the three leaders in this meeting, and an appeal was made to prioritize the party's interests.

Sapkale's Coordination Formula

During the meeting, there is talk in political circles that a coordination formula has been decided. According to this formula,

the group leader of Chandrapur Municipal Corporation will be decided by the state president Harshvardhan Sapkale.

One of the groups, either Vadettiwar or Dhanorkar, will be given the mayor's post.

It has been agreed to give the standing committee chairman post to the other group.

A proposal has been made to give the deputy mayor position to the local alliance of four members supporting Congress from outside. This formula clearly shows an attempt to reduce tension within the party by involving both groups in power. Notably, since the decision of the group leader will be taken directly by the regional president, it is said that Congress has planned to control the conflict at the local level.

Suspense on the decision remains

However, it is not yet clear whether the proposal decided in this meeting will be accepted by Vijay Wadettiwar and Pratibha Dhanorkar. Both leaders have not openly announced their stance, and everyone's attention is on their next moves. If this formula is accepted, Congress could get a big relief in forming power in Chandrapur. Otherwise, the possibility of the party having to endure political damage once again due to internal disputes cannot be ruled out.

After the municipal elections, Congress faces the challenge of strengthening the organization anew in Maharashtra. In such a situation, the increase in factionalism in places like Chandrapur is considered a warning bell for the party. Therefore, how successful Harshvardhan Sapkal's intervention proves to be will become clear in the coming days.
