A controversy has once again erupted in Maharashtra politics over the political legacy of the late leader Gopinath Munde. At an OBC gathering in Beed, Minister Chhagan Bhujbal stated that Dhananjay Munde is the true political heir of Gopinath Munde. This statement has raised the political temperature from Beed to Mumbai. Prakash Mahajan has now given a strong response to Bhujbal's statement. Advising Bhujbal directly, he said, “Do not sow discord among the Munde siblings who have reunited after many years.” He also remarked, “Before deciding the heir in someone else's house, decide who your own heir is: son or nephew.”
Prakash Mahajan said, “What times have come! Who is deciding the heir of the late Munde Saheb? One who was in prison for many months and another who flaunts her own vermilion in front of the world every day. The social and political legacy of the late Gopinath Munde belongs solely and exclusively to Pankaja Tai Munde, no one else.” Mahajan further stated, “Pankaja Munde has been recognized by the people as the heir. She has earned this legacy through struggle. After the demise of Gopinath Munde, people saw his spirit in Pankaja. It should not be forgotten that after she lost the Lok Sabha election, 5 people committed suicide.”
Mahajan has recorded his strong reaction through a Facebook post, which he shared after Karuna Sharma Munde made a statement in support of Dhananjay Munde. Criticizing Chhagan Bhujbal, Mahajan further said, "Pankaja Munde was not present at that gathering, which is why Bhujbal might have made such a statement. But if we call Sameer Bhujbal your successor, would you accept it?" he questioned. Therefore, the controversy initiated by Bhujbal's statement now seems to be shaping up as a direct confrontation between Pankaja and Dhananjay over the political succession within the Munde family.
